A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you
take a seat.

More about getting started
What do I need to use LocalScreen?

The LocalScreen desktop app, its receiver on a compatible Fire OS TV, and a shared local network. Both apps are in development; public downloads and the TV store listing aren’t available yet.

Does it share my whole desktop?

You choose a window to share. LocalScreen does not fall back to sharing your full desktop if that window disappears. Computer playback audio can include other apps and notifications—it isn’t isolated to the selected window.

Does my screen go through the cloud?

The app uses encrypted transport between your devices over the local network, without a cloud media relay. You’ll need internet access to download the apps. Internet-disconnected playback is still part of our release testing.

Will it use my microphone or camera?

No. LocalScreen is built for your selected window and computer playback audio. Microphone and camera capture are not part of the product.

Can I share any video or streaming service?

Some protected content cannot be captured. LocalScreen does not bypass those protections. Share only content you have permission to show.

How do I stop sharing?

Use Stop on your computer to end the share. Pausing on the TV only pauses its picture and sound; it does not stop capture on the computer.
